i used to work in a family-owned grocery store when i was in high school. our manager made us make “fresh” salads out of all the rotten vegetables. my friends and i would put some of the toppings in our mouths and put them on the salads. then we’d “mark” them so we’d know who bought the “violated” ones.

our floors were also very dirty. as soon as water hit the floors, it would turn to mud. i accidently dropped half of a 5-gallon bucketful of fruitsalad all over the floor. i then scooped it back up with a dirty dustpan and served it to the elderly customers (yes, it was obviously dirty with lots of black specks on it).

we also sold rotten fruit to the amish to feed their kids for cheap. i have seen an amish digging around in a dumpster for food.

there were also big rats running around the food.

my little sister worked in the bakery where their manager told them to drop frozen loaves of bread on the floor to break them apart.

my dream is for the health department to shut down the store, but the owner is on the health dept. board, so he knows in advance when the health dept. is coming. my friend and i vowed to come back and kill the other person (put them out of their misery) if one of us still worked there 10 years from now. we wanted to die in a manner that would expose the store for what it was.

i am currently persuing my doctorate in pharmacy …
