I drove my rental car at sustained speeds in excess of 100 mph in an effort to make it back to the airport for my flight home. In the end, I missed my flight anyway, so I took great risks and potentially put others in danger for nothing.
In the car’s defence, it was quite stable at speed, but had an emergency arisen, I most likely lacked the capability to adequately respond to it, in spite of my glowing self-assessment of my driving skills.
